Deeth Williams Wall warmly welcomes Hashim Ghazi and Vanessa Komarnicki to the partnership.
Hashim’s practice focuses on advising public and private-sector clients on technology contracting review, drafting and negotiation; data protection, privacy, cybersecurity and digital risk matters; and emerging technology legal considerations, including with respect to artificial intelligence, automation, blockchain, smart contracts and non-fungible tokens (NFTs). Hashim also has experience in the prosecution, management, licensing and enforcement of trade-marks and copyright. He advises clients on a wide range of industries, including insurance and financial services, start-up and emerging tech, payments and fintech, biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, food and beverage, fashion and design, and media, sports and entertainment.
Vanessa’s practice focuses on the preparation and prosecution of patent and industrial design applications, with an emphasis on life science, chemical and mechanical technologies. She also has experience advising on patentability, validity and infringement of intellectual property rights. In addition to her qualifications as a lawyer, Vanessa is a registered patent agent in Canada, and was awarded the Marie F. Morency Memorial Prize for obtaining the highest mark in Canada in patent drafting in the 2015 patent agent examinations.
