Deeth Williams Wall Counsel, Gary Daniel, recently published an article in World Trademark Review where he discusses the multi-year backlog in the Canadian Intellectual Property Office’s (CIPO’s) examination of trademark applications. This has been a major problem and source of embarrassment for Canadian trademark professionals since the onset of the pandemic. However, the article goes onto detail how CIPO is finally making tangible progress in tackling and slowly reducing the backlog.
The article "Is the tide finally turning at CIPO?" can be found on the World Trademark Review website.
